DID NOT WORK ON SILICONE July 24, 2010 Mr. Robert A. Mcdonald (RENO NV) Applied heavy amount to a strip of clear silicon caulk at the bottom of a window let stand 24 hours, silicone hard as a rock, applied second very heavy coat let stand another 24 hours silicone still hard as a rock...
This Works, Although Slowly April 21, 2010 J. A. Eastman (Cheyenne, WY) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Admittedly, I had a very tough job. My late husband had caulked around a bathroom sink with indoor/outdoor caulk, not the bathroom sort. I wanted to repaint this bathroom and did not desire to try to paint over this caulk. It was spread liberally on the wall next to the sink.
It took 3 days and 3 applications and a lot of elbow grease to get most of that nasty caulk out. I must tell you that if you have caulk on a wall this will remove it, no problem. However, it will also remove the paint underneath. Beware that if you use this on a wall you will have to repaint that spot (which I was going to do anyway, so I didn't care).
This caulk was hard as concrete and it did soften it a lot. I doubt I could have gotten the caulk out without this product. My bottom line: I couldn't have done without it, I needed it, and it was worth every penny.
Not worth the mess February 26, 2010 R. Wilson (ca) 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
I thought this would make caulking a breeze. No way. Just got more messy as you go along. Did a better job with my finger. Scraper caulk remover piece of junk and the caulking softner remover was a waste of time. Removed old caulking better with a regular scraper.
It works like magic! January 15, 2010 Star255 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was trying to remove the old caulking on my 18 year bath tub, and boy what a pain! The caulks have became so hard like concrete. I had to remove little piece by piece so I don't damage the bath tub, I spend a couple house per day and 1 week later there are still a lot of caulk left!
Just when I was about to give up, I came to Amazon and search for caulk removing tools, and came to this item. After reading the reviews I decide to give it a try. When I use it for the first time, I was so amazed! This item somehow "melt" the caulks and soften them. The caulks became so easy to remove! If you are having trouble removing old caulks like I do, buy this product, it helps!
Don't expect any miracles.. December 25, 2009 Rusty (CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Good: It does soften up hard caulk enough to make the job easier. But scraper is still required.
Bad: The flip up dispenser nozzle is way too short, which makes it very difficult to apply. You will need a longer applicator to spread the stuff in corners. The consistency is too thin; it tends to run when applied on vertical surfaces. This product is also very expensive for what it is.
